Who says all 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame will agree

on something before the current contract expires. Once the current contract expires and nothing new is in place, then all bets are off. The P5s could decide to form their own group to implement their plan without the G5's involvement or consent. The G5 automatic bid is basically throwing them a bone to try to avoid antitrust litigation. There is nothing to mandate that the G5s will have to agree to the P5's plan. Also, forming their own playoff isn't their only other option. Since there is no contract in place, then there is nothing to prevent the G5s from suing the P5s. It would be no different than the lawsuits that took place in the late 70s and early 80s when decisions were made to force some DI schools to compete in DI-AA subdivision for football and those schools sued to try to remain in the DI-A subdivision.
